Offline AI workspace: chat, document Q&A with citations and local translation, nothing leaves your machine
HilbertRaum is an AI workspace for the days when you do not want your questions or documents going anywhere. It runs entirely offline on Windows, macOS and Linux: chat with a local model, ask questions about private files, and nothing leaves the machine - no cloud fallback, no web search, no telemetry, no account. The app, the models and your data can even live together on an encrypted USB drive and travel between computers.
You do not need to pick a model yourself. The app benchmarks your hardware and recommends one from a small, tested catalog (Qwen, Gemma, Ministral, Granite): more memory gets you a smarter model, a modest machine still gets a working one.
Document Q&A comes with citations: import PDFs, Word files or plain text and get answers that point back to the exact passages in your files. You can register Wikipedia in about a hundred languages, Wiktionary or Wikivoyage as offline knowledge packs, translate text and whole documents locally, transcribe audio with Whisper, dictate prompts, OCR scanned pages and ask a vision model about your pictures. An optional local API, off by default, lets other programs use your running model.
Setup is honest rather than instant: the app is the shell, and the AI engine plus at least one model download separately inside the app, all verified before use. The project is pre-release with unsigned installers, so expect the usual SmartScreen or Gatekeeper warnings. Free and GPL-3.0.
